The ps3 system is not region free. There is no confirmed way of unlocking the region on the ps3, but you can try the tiff exploit, this allows you to do a hotswap. Will the ps3 play ps2 and ps1 japanese games?

This data, or region code, is read by the player and if it doesn't recognize the region code as compatible or local, the disc will not play. I think,therefore i am a hamster. Purchased one film that just won't work on it (region b). Game are a different story, ps3 games are not region locked and can be played on any ps3 console. It plays any region free blu ray.
